Saturday, 20. June 2015: Arrival
  • around 6 p.m.: Welcome ceremony in the Blue House, apéro, snacks
Sunday, 21. June 2015
  • 10 a.m.: Welcome in the market square during the annual celebration of Breisach’s patrons
  • 11 a.m.: Meet the procession at the memorial for the Jewish Deportees
  • about 12 a.m.: Welcome by residents of Ida-Frank-Strasse - Vegetarian lunch in Pizzeria Rustica, Neuer Weg 16
  • 2 p.m.: Visit the Cemetery; Rabbi David Mason, London: Kaddish
    Guided tour to the graves of your family is prepared by students of three Breisach schools
  • after 3.30 p.m.: Visit to the Blaues Haus, Rheintorstr. 3
  • 5.30 p.m.: The Official program begins
    - Part 1: Dedication of Michael-Eisemann- Platz
    - Part 2: Commemorating 75 years after the deportation in 1940 - Dedication of a Memorial Book (Synagogenplatz)

  • 8 p.m.: Dinner at the Kapuzinergarten Hotel (invitation by Mayor Oliver Rein and City Council)
Monday, 22. June 2015:
  • 9.30 a.m.: Storytelling round table discussion in the Blue House - Who are we, where we are coming from, and what does the Blue House represent for us?

    Presentation of Hans David Blum’s book: “Jews in Breisach” – in English translation (20 €)

  • about 1 p.m.: Lunch in Galerie Goldammer, invitation by the artist and Falk Herdter. View the exhibition, the historic cellars in the volcanic hill and Heidelore’s rose garden - Honoring Elaine Wolff
  • ca. 15 Uhr: Guided tour with artist Helmut Lutz: Radbrunnen and “Radbuehne” moving sculpture (www.sternenweg.de) - walk the street where Jews lived in the middle-ages (14. and 15. century) - “resistance in Breisach” - walk to the Muenster – church, view the traces of the Romans. view the Rhine valley – Black Forest and Vosges - visit the memorial for the deported Jews of Breisach on Muensterbergstrasse (dedicated 2004)
  • about 4.30 p.m.: coffee and cake, refreshments; invitation by Helmut und Helga Lutz in their garden
  • 6.30 p.m.: a short guided tour to the Muenster (cathedral)
  • 6.45 p.m.: visit the organ - a short guided tour to the organ with Nikola Heckner, the Muenster’s musical director (special program for children)
  • Dinner: in the hotels or city - time to relax
  • 10 – 11 p.m.: “We still see their faces….” – a Window to the Past: projection of family pictures (Daniela Schaffart and Ari Nahor)
Tuesday, 23. June 2015:
  • 8 a.m.: Lecture by Prof. Daniel Hoffmann, Düsseldorf for the students of grade 9 (Martin-Schongauer-Gymnasium)
  • 10 a.m.: Round Table Discussion with teachers and students of the Hugo-Hoefler-Realschule participating in an exchange program with partner schools in Oswiecim/Poland, getting to know the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial
  • around 12 p.m.: Excursion to the volcanic Kaiserstuhl: Lenzenberg/Ihringen, Lunch at Lenzenberg inn, there is a playground next to Inn.- Hike in the Kaiserstuhl, planned by teachers and students of the gymnasium, View the vinyards, the Black Forest, the French Vosges and hilly Kaiserstuhl
  • around 5 p.m.: Visit the Weingut Pix in Ihringen and taste their wines, guided tour to the cellars (www.weingut-pix.de)(first organic winery in Ihringen) - return to Breisach
  • 7 p.m. dinner as you like it
Wednesday, 24. June 2015:
  • 9 a.m.: Excursion to Freiburg - Stop at Cemetery: visit the grave of Michael Eisemann and others
  • 10.30: Welcome by Rosita Dienst-Demuth and her students at Lessing-Realschule, the mandatory school for Jewish kids from Breisach between 1936 and 1938. Information about the work done by the history-club to research the stories of the Jewish students and about how they deal with the multinational background of todays students.
  • Lunch
  • For the (continuing) afternoon program in Freiburg we have several options, suggestions will be made
  • 8 p.m.: fare-well-dinner (Kapuzinergarten)

Thursday, 25. June 2015:

  • 8 p.m.: The bus leaves at ZOB Freiburg
  • 8.45 p.m.: The bus will be waiting at the Museum für Stadtgeschichte Rheintorstr. Excursion to Alsace by bus, view the beautiful mountains and hilly wine region: Field trip by bus to CERD, the European Centre of Deported Resistance Members in the site of the former concentration camp of Natzweiler-Struthof/Alsace in France the site of the former concentration camp of Natzweiler-Struthof/Alsace in France via the Judengarten near Mackenheim (oldest cemetery of the Breisach Jews which has the oldest Geismar grave), cemetery Rosenwiller and Rosheim

    program in collaboration with the Carl-Schurz-Haus, Freiburg German-American Institute (www.carl-schurz-haus.de)

  • return about 6. p.m.

  • 10 a.m.: Welcome in the market square during the annual celebration of Breisachs patrons (Procession leaves the Munster around 9.30, departure from the hotel 9.45 a.m.)
  • 4 p.m.: Jonathan Hollander and Battery Dance Company, New York, NY., dance in the Blue House, Music by Thomas Wenk: Improvisation - Prepared Piano
    Unveiling of the sculpture by Heike Endemann, speeches, coffee and cake in the garden
  • 7 pm: Past - Present- Future: Battery Dance Company at Breisgauhalle
    Dinner at Kapuzinergarten

Monday, June 24 2013

  • 3 p.m.: Presentation of the Hartung Gorre publishing house, Konstanz: Gabriel Groszman, author: Semi Uffenheimer, histories of Jewish families in Breisach, Bühl, Lörrach and Graben in Baden and in Argentina 1902 1981 - 2013 translation from Spanish by Rudolph Barth
